Why We Do Door-to-Door Transport

Trellis isn’t your average vocational rehabilitation-focused organization — we provide multiple services for our clients in a holistic approach, going beyond just employment placement by offering 20+ community activities a month for our clients, from cooking classes to yoga, bowling, trips to the zoo, park picnics and more. We believe that both these branches are important to empowering clients and helping them navigate toward success in their own lives.

We know this is also a big benefit for clients and their families or case workers and counselors, as keeping both these services under one roof minimizes administrative work and lightens the challenging load of managing multiple support professionals. Instead, we handle it all so we can offer clients a comprehensive, tailored approach to achieving their goals. This includes door-to-door transport from client home to community events and back again, which is very valuable. What does this mean for clients, their families and counselors?

For Clients

Many of our clients do not drive or own vehicles themselves, which means they are not very mobile or are reliant upon family members to transport them from A to B. Having a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) pick up each client brings an added level of independence to their lives, and offers additional attention from their support team. Clients can better focus on the important stuff: challenging themselves, growing, learning, socializing and participating more fully in society. Our DSPs facilitate and assist their clients by including door-to-door transport, helping them do the things they want to do while providing valuable support and security when needed.

For Families

Families of clients with disabilities are often very busy, taking additional time to help support their loved ones. We’re happy to provide our full level of support to get clients where they want to go so families can take transportation off their plates! This in turn allows families to better focus on the important stuff too: taking care of other family members, maintaining safe spaces at home and yes, some self-care too. We know that work and school schedules are demanding for everyone.

For Counselors or Case Workers

Eliminating unknowns and loose ends can go a long way for our busy referring agency teams. We’re all in this industry because we care deeply about bettering the lives of individuals with disabilities, and we’ve designed our programs to improve the lines of support clients are able to receive from all directions.
